BALTIMORE (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds have activated left-hander Aroldis Chapman from the 15-day disabled list and optioned pitcher Jeremy Horst to Triple-A Louisville.
Chapman had been on the DL since May 16 with left shoulder inflammation. Before the injury, he was 2-0 with a 6.92 ERA in 16 appearances, all in relief.
The 23-year-old Chapman defected from Cuba in 2009 and made his major league debut with Cincinnati last year, going 2-2 in 15 games with a 2.03 ERA.
Horst made five appearances with the Reds without a decision since joining the team on May 28.
