Officials called in a bomb squad Friday after the discovery of a suspicious package at the Ross Complex area of the Bonneville Power Administration.

A BPA spokesman said the object was found roughly at 2 p.m. at the substation in Hazel Dell and officials were checking it out.

Employees in the area where the package was found were evacuated, officials said. Traffic was diverted around the area.

Shortly before 5 p.m., BPA spokesman Doug Johnson said experts had determined the box contained no explosive.

Officials didn’t know where the box came from.
