VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) -- A Clark County sheriff's spokesman says a SWAT officer has shot and critically wounded a woman at a home near Ridgefield, Wash., after she reportedly said she wanted officers to shoot her and advanced, pointing a handgun at them.
Sgt. Scott Schanaker says the 60-year-old woman was flown to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition. She was not immediately identified.
The officer who fired was not identified either.
Sheriff's deputies and then a SWAT team responded to the home Friday after reports that an armed, despondent woman had barricaded herself in a room above a garage.
The Columbian says property records show the home is owned by a local doctor.
