Letter: Raise our voices to regain control

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, D-Camas, deserves recognition for voting against raising the U.S. debt limit “without any structural spending changes or cuts.” With no end to deficits in sight, Herrera Beutler is a voice of reason amidst an out-of-control United States Congress. The Obama administration remains out of touch with economic realities.

Every generation of Americans must confront serious challenges. So far, each generation has left the next one better off. Our challenge is to regain control over our financial house. We should be thankful at least one representative takes this challenge seriously. Hopefully, she will have enough support to hand the next generation a shining city on the hill instead of an enormous tax bill with no economic opportunities.
