Portland police investigating two overnight homicides

On June 26, 2011 at 12:37 a.m. Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to reports of a man shot at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Thompson Street. Arriving officer located a man deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. A second man was also shot and was transported to an area hospital and it is believed that he will recover from non-life threatening injuries.

Officers took steps to preserve the crime scene and notified homicide Detectives to respond to the scene. Homicide Detectives arrived and began their investigation.

The investigation is continuing.

On June 26, 2011 at 2:04 a.m. Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to Northwest 6th Avenue and Davis Street on a report of a disturbance. Arriving officers located a male victim who had been stabbed.

Officers called for medical personnel to come to the scene to treat the injured man but he died prior to medical staff arrived in scene.

Officers on scene took steps to preserve the crime scene and they requested Homicide Detectives respond to the scene. Homicide Detectives arrived and began their investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
