Vancouver resident Rick Story lost a unanimous decision on Sunday to Charlie Brenneman in the nationally-televised UFC Live 4 mixed martial arts main event at Pittsburgh.

Brenneman, a welterweight was just three UFC fights, was a replacement for Nate Marquardt, who was not medically cleared to fight by the Pennsylvania athletic commission on Saturday.

Yahoo! Sports reported that Story could have earned a title shot against Georges St. Pierre with a victory Sunday, but now will likely have to work his way back up the ladder.

“Coming into this fight, I was prepared to fight a taller kick boxer with Ju-Jitsu,” Story said in the post-fight press conference. “So I didn’t train any wrestling for these last three weeks and he got the best of me tonight.

This is a setback. But I’ve got to go back and train my heart out. I’ve got to come in well-rounded and prepared for everything in all fgights, no matter if it’s short notice or not.”

UFC owner Dana White said he doesn’t expect Sunday’s loss to knock Story down significantly:

“He’s my kind of guy. The kid just beat Thiago Alves, what, three weeks ago. II have nothing but respect for him.”
