Suspected US missile strike kills 8 in Pakistan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say suspected U.S. drone-fired missiles hit a pickup truck in northwestern Pakistan, killing eight alleged militants.

The officials say the attack occurred Monday in the Dre Nashter area of the South Waziristan tribal area near North Waziristan. This area has been hit twice before by suspected U.S. drones in recent months.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

The identities of those killed in the strike were not known. But the area is known to be a stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban.
