Ore. shooting victim identified, police seek tips

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The victim of a fatal weekend shooting in Portland has been identified and police are asking the public for help in finding a suspect.

Portland police said that 34-year-old Leonard James "L.J." Irving was shot and killed early Sunday in northeast Portland.

Two other men were wounded in the shooting. They were identified as 21-year-old Lamar Lovette Hill, who was shot in the neck, and 21-year-old Jeray Lashawn Jessie, who was shot in the arm.

Police said there was some disturbance that led to the shooting and are not sure if it is gang-related.

The Oregonian reports that several family and friends of other recent homicide victims - including two Portland teenagers - know the family of Irving.
