Vines leads Women’s Public Links Championship

BANDON, Ore. (AP) — Kelsey Vines shot an even-par 71 Monday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of stroke play at the Women’s U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

Vines, from San Antonio, Texas, leads Arizonans Cheyenne Woods and Julie Yang, who both shot 72 on the 6,095-yard Old Macdonald course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

Emily Tubert of Burbank, Calif., is another shot back at 73.

The second round of stroke play is Tuesday. The 156-player field will be trimmed to 64 for match play, starting Wednesday. The 36-hole final is Saturday.
