Live music from the 50s, 60s and 70s, as well as an assortment of food, will be available at the Fourth of July celebration at Marina Park.

The Port of Camas-Washougal Independence Day event, presented in partnership with the city of Washougal, will be free and open to the public.

Food vendors will begin serving gyros, baklava, kettle corn and shave ice at 4 p.m. The Camas Lions will host a beer/wine garden and sell hamburgers, cheeseburgers, beef hot dogs/polish dogs and grilled garlic onions.

Outside beverages will not be allowed, except sealed bottles of water. Personal fireworks will not be allowed at or near Marina Park. The King Brother’s Band will perform from 6 to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks at approximately 10:10 p.m.

Port Communications Director Jack Hardy said Boy Scouts will assist with directions and parking.

“We expect a large turnout because Cottonwood Beach is still underwater,” he said. “The port has been clearing a large parking area on the former [Hambleton] lumberyard site and an adjacent field at Sixth Street. Access to all areas will be at Second Street with signs indicating where to turn for the parking area. Now, all we need is the sun to cooperate.”

According to Washougal Mayor Sean Guard, there will be security personnel roaming the area and Washougal police and Washington State Patrol officers will help manage the traffic flow out of the area after the show.

“This is a great collaboration between the city of Washougal and the port,” he said. “We have a lot of folks who are contributing to the event to keep public use of funds to zero except for the fireworks themselves.”

The cost of the fireworks display, $15,000, is paid from hotel/motel taxes.

In addition to the port and Washougal, main sponsors of the event are Lacamas Community Credit Union and Waste Connections/Columbia Resource Company.

Marina Park is located near the port offices at 24 S. “A” St., Washougal.
