NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (AP) — Tiger Woods says he’s done playing with pain.

Woods says he is making progress in his recovery from injuries to his left leg, although he has no idea when he will return to golf. He says he has played with injuries too much in his career, and now is the time to be smarter about his health.

He says he no longer uses crutches or a walking boot, but his left knee and Achilles is not strong enough so that he can hit balls. All he has done in recent weeks is work on his putting.

Woods did not say whether he would compete in the British Open, which starts July 14 at Royal St. George’s. However, he did say he would be surprised if the year ended without him playing another tournament.
