CLALLAM BAY, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Department of Corrections says one inmate has been killed in a shooting at the Clallam Bay Corrections Facility.

Spokesman Chad Lewis says the prison is secure and there’s no danger to the public.

Prison officials, with help from the State Patrol and Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, are piecing together the details of what happened.

Information such as who shot whom has not been released.

The prison is about 45 miles west of Port Angeles. It opened in 1985 and has a capacity of 858 inmates in medium- to maximum custody. Lewis says it has a staff of more than 100 employees.

Lewis says the main concern is security and making sure all the other inmates and the prison staff are OK.
