Are you the next "American Idol"?

Local residents have an opportunity today to sign up to make their case as TV's most popular show, now in its 11th season, is holding auditions in Portland for the first time.

Pre-registration tables open today and remain open until Saturday morning at the Rose Quarter in Portland.

Wristbands will be distributed at the pre-registration. If you receive a wristband, you'll be asked to return to the Rose Garden early Saturday for an audition.

Each "Idol" hopeful must bring two forms of identification that show proof of age and a photograph. Auditioners are allowed to bring along a one-member fan club, but that person must also be present at registration to receive a wristband and seat ticket.

No children under the age of 5 years are allowed at the audition venue.

Traffic through the Rose Garden is slow as long lines have already formed around the area. Some people have been lined up outside the Rose Garden since 7 p.m. Wednesday.
