BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — A car has slammed into a police cruiser on the shoulder of a Bellevue interstate, injuring a state trooper and the motorist he had stopped.
Authorities say 28-year-old trooper Michael Porter had pulled over an SUV on Interstate 405 just before midnight Thursday.
KIRO-TV reports that the trooper was speaking to the driver when another car slammed into the patrol car, knocking Porter off his feet and into the air. Police say the driver, a 32-year-old man from Bellingham, was pinned underneath his SUV and had to be rescued by firefighters.
Authorities say the trooper and the motorist he had stopped are expected to be OK.
