PASCO, Wash. (AP) — Franklin County commissioners may ask voters to raise the sales tax to help pay for a new jail.

Sheriff Richard Lathim told commissioners Wednesday that a leaking roof could lead to bogus and legitimate claims against the county for damages.

The Tri-City Herald reports voters turned down a proposed sales tax in 2009 that would have paid for a new jail and Pasco police station.
