McCollum leads Lehigh past Navy 87-75 in Patriot

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — C.J. McCollum scored 25 points and Lehigh pulled away from Navy early in the second half, then held on for an 87-75 win Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League tournament.

The fourth-seeded Mountain Hawks (16-14), who are seeking their second straight Patriot title, opened the second half with a 24-8 run to lead 57-37 with 10:52 to play.

Lehigh extended the lead to 63-40 with 9:50 left. After the fifth-seeded Midshipmen (11-20) closed to 76-66 with 2:25 to go, the Mountain Hawks hit 11 of 17 free throws down the stretch.

Lehigh, which ended a two-game skid, will play at top-seeded Bucknell on Sunday night.

Jordan Hamilton added a career-high 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and Prentice Hall had 11 for the Mountain Hawks, who shot 60 percent after the break (15 of 25).

Greg Brown led Navy with 17 points.
