EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Northwestern University’s president says he is troubled that a psychology professor allowed a couple to engage in a sex act involving a motorized sex toy in front of dozens of students and is calling for an investigation.

In a news release issued Thursday, President Morton Schapiro says he believes Professor John Michael Bailey showed “extremely poor judgment” in allowing the students of his human sexuality class to see the graphic demonstration involving a sex toy.

The incident took place on Feb. 21. A guest speaker was discussing bondage and other sexual fetishes and asked if any students would like to see a live demonstration after the class was over.

According to published reports, about 100 students stayed to watch the demonstration.
