ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Isaac Sosa scored 17 points, including 12 in the second half, as Central Florida defeated Southern Methodist 51-48 Wednesday night.

A.J Rompza added 10 points, and Marcus Jordan and A.J. Tyler had eight apiece.

Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, the Knights (19-9, 6-9) used 3-pointers from Tyler and Sosa on consecutive possessions with 9:34 remaining in the game to take their first lead, 35-31, since the opening minute.

The Mustangs (17-12, 8-7) were led by Papa Dia’s 18 points and nine rebounds. SMU shot 62.5 percent (10 for 16) in the first half, but connected on just 34.6 percent (9 for 26) after the break.

A late surge by the Mustangs closed the gap to just three in the final seconds, but two open looks from SMU guards from beyond the arc rimmed out as the Knights held on for the victory.
