INDIANAPLIS (AP) — Michael Phelps enters Friday night’s 200-meter butterfly finals at the Indianapolis Grand Prix after swimming the fastest time in prelims.

The world-record holder swam the morning prelim in 1 minute, 59.75 seconds. Scott Clary was second in 2:01.20.

Phelps is swimming five events this weekend, and the 200 fly is the only one in which he and Ryan Lochte won’t both compete.

Phelps is a 14-time Olympic gold medalist. Lochte was the world’s most dominant swimmer in 2010. In Austin, Texas, two months ago, Lochte beat Phelps in the 200 individual medley.

On Thursday, Phelps won the 200 free and the 100 fly. Lochte was fourth in the 200 free and didn’t make the 100 fly finals.
