RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Samme Givens scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half Friday, leading Drexel to a 75-69 victory over Towson in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

Givens also grabbed 14 rebounds and the fifth-seeded Dragons (21-9) got 15 points from Chris Fouch and 13 from Frantz Massenat in winning their fourth consecutive game.

Towson (4-26) lost for the 19th time in as many games against CAA foes this year. The Tigers were paced by Josh Brown with 18 points and Dre Conner with 14.

The Dragons took control in the second half after the first ended with the teams knotted at 28. Givens hit all eight of his shots as Drexel built its lead as high as 13 four times, and led 60-48 when the Tigers used a 14-4 run to pull within two, 64-62, with 3:15 left.

But Gerald Colds hit a 3-pointer for Drexel and Towson never got closer than four again.
