SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Right-handers Ian Kennedy of the Diamondbacks and Tim Stauffer of the Padres each bounced from rough spring debuts by throwing three scoreless innings in San Diego’s 3-2 win Friday.

Kennedy, Arizona’s No. 3 starter, allowed two hits, struck out four and walked none. He yielded two runs and four hits in his spring debut against Colorado.

Stauffer became San Diego’s first pitcher to record nine outs this spring. The projected No. 4 starter allowed one hit, struck out two and walked none. He was roughed up for five runs over 1 2-3 innings against Seattle in his first spring outing.

Cory Luebke, bidding for the fifth spot in the rotation, followed Stauffer to the mound and was just as effective. He also pitched three scoreless innings, yielding two hits and one walk.
