INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Swimming fans will get their Saturday night feature attraction at the Indianapolis Grand Prix — Michael Phelps vs. Ryan Lochte in the 200-meter individual medley.

Phelps has the top seed in two events after finishing the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 4.05 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 49.41 seconds. He is the two-time defending Olympic gold medalist in the 200 IM.

Lochte qualified fifth in the 200 IM with a 2:05.07. He’s the world record-holder in the event.

But the expected duel in the 100 freestlye won’t happen in Indy.

Lochte, the world’s most dominant swimmer in 2010, wore down in his third event of the day and failed to qualify for the 100 free finals.

He plans to swim the 200 backstroke finals after earning the No. 8 seed.
