Northwestern St. holds off Stephen F. Austin 70-65

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Devon Baker scored 20 points and Northwestern State held off Stephen F. Austin 70-65 on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams.

After the Demons (18-13, 10-6 Southland Conference) overcame a five-point deficit to regain the lead at 52-51 with 9:41 to go, the Lumberjacks pulled within a point on six occasions.

Jordan Glynn’s layup made it 66-65 with 1:31 left, then Stephen F. Austin (18-10, 9-7) did not score again.

Will Pratt added 11 points for Northwestern State, which has won three of its last four. William Mosley, who leads the nation in blocked shots (4.9 per game), had five blocks.

The Demons led by as many as 13 in the first half, then hit a drought spanning 6:34.

Antonio Bostic and Jereal Scott scored 17 points apiece to pace Stephen F. Austin, while Glynn had 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Lumberjacks took a 43-31 rebounding advantage.
