MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Medford police say a 48-year-old woman is dead, and her 50-year-old boyfriend is under police guard at a local hospital.
Deputy Chief Tim George says police responding to a domestic violence call found Bonnie Susan Payne dead in the apartment Saturday morning.
Mitchell Alan Below had barricaded himself in a bathroom and refused police orders to come out. He eventually emerged with apparent self-inflicted knife wounds and was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to survive his wounds.
The Mail Tribune newspaper reports that Below faces face murder charges.
