What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Thankfully the NCAA lets its basketball teams have a playoff to decide a national champion.

So unlike, say, football, the polls for college basketball don’t carry any weight toward the postseason.

However, with March Madness upon us, let’s take a look back at the 2010-11 preseason poll.

Duke was No. 1. OK, easy choice and they have done well enough.

Michigan State was highly regarded at No. 2. Now it is nowhere to be found. Or as our good buddies at Fark.com put it: “And the number two ranked team in pre-season polls continues its journey toward the NIT.”

What does 156 mph feel like?

If you were driving 156 mph in the Daytona 500, you would likely find yourself lapped … several times.

If you have a tennis racket in your hand and crank out a 156 mph serve, you get in the record books.

The International Tennis Federation reported that Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic set a world record with a 156 mph serve Saturday during a Davis Cup doubles match.

Karlovic surpassed the mark of 155 mph that Andy Roddick set in 2004.
