PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Laynce Nix hit an RBI double in the 10th inning and the Washington Nationals beat a New York Mets split squad Tuesday.

Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran has tendinitis in his left knee and will be out four to five days. He said the problem was caused by compensating for his troubled right knee.

Mets minor leaguer Cory Vaughn, son of former All-Star slugger Greg Vaughn, hit a tying, two-run homer in the eighth in his first at-bat of spring training.

Chris Capuano, competing for a spot at the back end of the Mets’ rotation, gave up five hits and two solo home runs in four innings.

Jordan Zimmermann worked three sharp innings, allowing a double to Willie Harris and striking out four.
