EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County prosecutor says a sheriff’s deputy was justified in shooting a Bothell man who was attacking another man with a screwdriver.
Prosecutor Mark Roe says Deputy James Kunard had no reasonable alternative to shooting 26-year-old Adam J. Smith.
The Daily Herald reports Smith was paranoid and confused on New Year’s Eve in 2009, likely from eating hallucinogenic mushrooms. He ignored orders to drop the screwdriver.
