Nesbitt wins gold at speedskating worlds

INZELL, Germany (AP) — Olympic champion Christine Nesbitt of Canada won the women’s 1,000-meter race on Saturday, ending Ireen Wust’s winning streak at the speedskating world championships.

Nesbitt finished in 1 minute 14.84 seconds, 0.58 seconds ahead of Wust, who won the 3,000 on Thursday and the 1,500 Friday.

Heather Richardson took the bronze, 0.61 seconds behind Nesbitt.
