RHP Matt Bush among first Rays cuts

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) — Right-hander Matt Bush is among the first wave of spring training cuts announced by the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 25-year-old converted shortstop was reassigned to minor league camp on Friday. He was the first overall pick in 2004 June draft by the San Diego Padres and began his transition to pitching in 2007.

Also assigned to minor league camp were right-handers Brian Baker, Jonah Bayliss, Richard De Los Santos, Ricky Orta and Albert Suarez, lefty Alex Torres and outfielder Brandon Guyer.
