ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has sent an open letter to fans apologizing for the NFL’s labor discord.

Bowlen, co-chair of the NFL’s management council executive committee, wrote: “I am sorry the negotiating efforts have yet to yield a new deal.” Last week, the league locked out the players, who decertified their union so they could sue the NFL in federal court.

Bowlen’s letter stated that the quickest way to reach a fair agreement was for both sides to continue negotiations through mediation.

The team also sent a letter to season ticket holders this week outlining its refund policy in case any 2011 games are canceled because of the impasse.
