SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon couple have been arrested and charged with animal neglect after five horses were seized from their property in Silverton.
The Statesman Journal reports that 66-year-old Kenneth Burnett and his 63-year-old wife, Sharon, were staying in Carson City, Nev., when Marion County sheriff’s deputies seized the horses from their property.
Deputies said the horses suffered from parasite infestations, rain rot, ringworms and weight loss resulting from malnutrition.
Several Australian shepherd dogs found at the property were placed with the Humane Society because of poor conditions.
