SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Spurs forward Tim Duncan is sitting out against the Charlotte Bobcats, missing a game for the first time this season.

Coach Gregg Popovich said Saturday he was going to rest his perennial All-Star. Duncan was the only Spurs player to start the team’s first 68 games, avoiding injuries unlike recent years.

Popovich wants to keep it that way. He didn’t want to overextend the 34-year-old a night after Duncan played 32 minutes in a win at Dallas.

The Bobcats also will be down a starter in Stephen Jackson, their leading scorer. Jackson is out with a strained hamstring.
