All-Region Girls Bowler of the Year

Season highlights

• In a remarkable display of consistency, Humphrey rolled three consecutive 200-plus games to win the district championship at Crosley Lanes.

• The 3A Greater St. Helens League coaches were impressed, too, voting her as their bowler of the year.

• After struggling at state last year, Humphrey managed a top-10 finish, placing sixth — one spot behind fellow All-Region bowler Katryn Comeau of Prairie.

• Favorite movie: “Fight Club.” “I was home, sick, one day and all I watched was ‘Fight Club’ and The Food Channel.”

• Most influential person: Her father, Bill. &#8220;He’s always been there for me. We butt heads sometimes but it’s only because he wants me to do well. He’s always willing to practice with me.”

• Favorite subject: Culinary. &#8220;I have it three periods out of six.”

Next year and beyond

• Kelcee, if you have not noticed, loves to cook. She plans to attend the Oregon Culinary Institute. She said she will bowl for the rest of her life. “I’m going to be the old woman, granny rolling.”

“I always wanted to beat my dad. My dad says the parents buy all the equipment for the kids so they can turn around and beat the parents.”

Referring to how she got so good. She proudly says she can beat her dad, Bill, and her brother, Dustin, consistently.

Rest of All-Region team

• Parker Bonife, jr., Union, 4A GSHL player of the year; regular season average of 189.

• Katryn Comeau, sr., Prairie, placed fifth at 3A state meet; averaged 177.

• Stacey Dettling, so., Evergreen, First team all-4A GSHL; averaged 178.

• Sarah Dolan, sr., Union, Placed 11th at 4A state meet; regular season average 177.

• Tessa Friason, jr., Prairie, First team all-3A GSHL; helped Prairie win state team title.

• Morgan Taylor, jr., Evergreen, 4A district runner-up; placed 5th at state.
