Three Hough neighborhood women have organized a paper-crane event at Pop Culture, in downtown Vancouver, on March 27 to raise awareness and money for the Japan earthquake tragedy.
“In Japanese tradition, making one thousand paper origami cranes grants a wish,” write Eileen Cowen, Sunrise O’Mahoney and Jamie Lutz Carroll. “Join us to make paper cranes in the wish for health and recovery for Japan and the people after the massive earthquake, tsunami, and impending nuclear disasters have taken their toll.”

From 12 noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at Pop Culture, 1929 Main Street, people will be making, and learning to make, 1,000 paper cranes. The cranes will be displayed throughout town to remind people about Japan’s emergency and need.
