Oregon Senate committee to review capital gains
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon Senate committee is scheduled to hear from the public about reducing capital gains taxes.
The Senate Finance and Revenue Committee has scheduled a public hearing Wednesday on seven bills adjusting the state's capital gains tax.
Lawmakers from both parties have said they're interested in lowering Oregon's capital gains taxes, which are some of the highest in the country.
Business groups have argued that the state's tax climate makes Oregon unappealing to businesses that might create jobs.
The issue played a large role in November's gubernatorial election.
