ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan football coach Brady Hoke says Ray Vinopal has left the team for family reasons.

Hoke said Wednesday the safety has returned to his home in Youngstown, Ohio.

Vinopal played in 12 games, including four starts during the regular season, and made 33 tackles and an interception for the Wolverines. He played in all 13 games as a freshman in 2010.
