SEATTLE (AP) — The downtown Seattle headquarters of the King County sheriff’s office was briefly evacuated after an envelope described as containing a suspicious powder arrived at the front desk.
Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart says Seattle police and firefighters responded after the envelope arrived late Wednesday afternoon.
Several nearby streets were blocked off and Metro buses were briefly rerouted.
By 6:15 p.m., KOMO-TV reports that a hazmat crew determined that the package was not dangerous.
