Ocean acidification is real

I was deeply touched by Rebecca Martin’s March 20 Local View, “We can help combat ocean acidification.” I share her concern for preserving the ocean for generations to come. Our mighty ocean has taken all it can take, and now we are facing the possibility of a massive decline in marine organisms. She points out that we are all responsible and there are things we can do in our daily lives to make a difference.

The first thing we need to do is educate ourselves and find out more about the problem. We have an opportunity to do just that on March 26 when a leading expert on ocean acidification, Richard A. Feely, will give his presentation.

I hope you will join me at the First Congregational United Church, 1220 N.E. 68th St., Vancouver, at 6:30 p.m.
