The Parks Foundation of Clark County is soliciting nominations for the Florence B. Wager Award. New in 2011, the award recognizes a leader, a volunteer and a professional, each of whom has contributed to local parks, trails and recreation programs.

The namesake of the award, Florence B. Wager, has been a strong citizen advocate and volunteer for parks and recreation in Clark County for many years. “Florence is a leader among leaders in our community,” according to a news release from Cheri Martin, the foundation’s executive director. “She is a champion of parks and recreation services. It is her passion. She is also an active user of the parks and recreation system. She knows its benefits firsthand.”

The awards (one in each of three categories) will be presented at the foundation’s annual meeting and luncheon, Tuesday, June 14 at the Water Resources Education Center. Nominations must be submitted by April 30 and are being accepted in the categories of “The Leading Eagle,” “The V-Formation Flyer,” and “The Tributary.”
