Simon Geschke wins 2nd stage of Criterium

PORTO-VECCHIO, France (AP) — Simon Geschke of Germany won a massive sprint to claim the second stage of the Criterium International race in Corsica on Sunday.

Luxembourg rider Frank Schleck kept the race leader’s jersey ahead of the final stage, a 4.3-mile time trial later Sunday.

The 25-year-old Geschke clocked a winning time of 1 hour, 43 minutes, 10 seconds over the 46.6-mile course around Porto Vecchio to claim his first professional win ahead of Murilo Antoniobil Fischer and Laurent Mangel.

Schleck leads Vasil Kiryienka of Belarus by 20 seconds in the overall standings. Estonian rider Rein Taaramae is third, 28 seconds back.
