SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The NAACP says it will hold a special march and rally Sunday in Spokane in response to the bomb that was left along a parade route on Martin Luther King Day.

Monday, April 4, will mark the 43rd anniversary of King’s assassination.

The Northwest office of the NAACP in Seattle says it’s planning the “Demand Justice and Promote Peace” march in Spokane because of the history of white supremacist activities in the area and neighboring Idaho.

The NAACP says Sunday’s march will support “peace, freedom, civil and human rights in an environment where it would appear that excessive racial hatred and discontinuity still exits.”

The March planned April 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Spokane is to be led by national NAACP President and CEO Todd Jealous.
