CLARK COUNTY — A new award series announced by the Parks Foundation of Clark County will recognize three exemplary park boosters — a community leader, a volunteer and a parks and recreation professional.

The annual awards are named for Florence B. Wager, a leading citizen advocate for Clark County parks and recreation. She has served as chairwoman of the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission for 14 years, and helped establish the Parks Foundation in 2009.

“Florence is a leader among leaders in our community,” said foundation executive director Cheri Martin. “She is a champion of parks and recreation services. It is her passion.”

The award categories are: Leading Eagle (for a community leader), V-Formation Flyer (for a volunteer) and Tributary (for a parks and recreation department professional, except for directors and senior staff).

Nominations are open until April 30. Nomination packets are available at http://parksfoundation.us, or from Martin at cheri.martin@parksfoundation.us or 360-487-8370.

Awards will be presented at the Parks Foundation annual meeting and luncheon on Tuesday, June 14, at the Water Resources Education Center in Vancouver.
