WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will be offering his first detailed accounting of his rationale for U.S. military involvement in Libya, and many in the audience will be hoping for an answer to the burning question: What’s next?

Obama’s speech, set for 7:30 p.m., comes a day after NATO ambassadors approved a plan for the alliance to assume command of the entire Libya operation.

That will help Obama assure the nation that he can deliver on his promise that the United States will be a partner in the military action against Libya, but not from the driver’s seat.

The White House says he will also discuss how the mission advanced U.S interests and reiterate that U.S. ground forces will not be put into Libya under any circumstance.
