Hockinson Meadows Park 5K Run — Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m. This is a flat course with a little of everything: gravel, blacktop, grass and mud. Directions: From I-205 go east on Padden Parkway approximately three miles, then turn left (north) on 117th Avenue. Go north on 117th about two miles then turn right (east) on Northeast 119th Street. Southwest Washington Youth Lacrosse Club — Registration for the spring season now open. Boys teams in grades 3-4 ($120), grades 5-6 ($145) and grades 7-8 ($145). Beginners welcome. LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League’s main season runs March-July, including All-Star play. Some leagues offer fall ball programs. Little League is an all-volunteer program. In Washington, it is organized into 11 districts, two of which serve The Columbian’s readership area. Registration for the main spring-summer season is held in January and February. Boundary maps for the leagues in those districts are available on the district Web sites (listed below).

Here is some basic Little League information:

— Most leagues offer baseball and softball. Baseball for players ages 5-18 are based on the player’s age on April 30, 2011. Softball for girls ages 5-18 are based on player’s age on Dec. 31, 2010.

— Practices began in March and the Little League season runs through mid-June, followed by all-star competition.

— Little League is run by volunteers.

— Challenger Division. Battle Ground/Highlands, Columbia, and LaCamas are leagues that offer a Challenger Division for disabled players ages 20 and younger who live in southwest Washington.

WALKING CLUBS

All Weather Walkers — A non-profit walking club based in Vancouver. At all club-sponsored events, eyeglasses and hearing aids are collected for the local Lions Club, as well as old cellular phones and chargers, which are formatted and reprogrammed to dial 911, for the Wireless Foundation’s “Call To Protect” program. WRESTLING CLUBS
