SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A law that takes effect Friday in Oregon requires carbon monoxide alarms in new and remodeled homes and some rental properties.
The Statesman Journal reports landlords must put alarms in residences that have a source of the gas, such as a fireplace or heaters and appliances with flames.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that forms from combustion. It can be deadly in enclosed spaces.
