Prairie standout Keaton Jackson is scheduled to play in the 2011 Northwest Shootout, representing Washington in the interstate basketball all-star game.

Jackson and the Washington boys team will take on Oregon at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Chiles Center in Portland. The girls game does not feature any Clark County athletes. That game will begin at 4 p.m.

Tickets — $10 or $5 for students — can be purchased at TicketMaster outlets or at the door.

This is the 18th year of the Shootout. Some of the players from Clark County who have participated in this event include Dan Dickau, Derek Raivio, Chantelle Anderson, and 2006 game MVP Ashley Corral.

Nationwide leaders — Several Clark County athletes have posted top-10 marks nationwide this season, according to athletic.net.

Heritage’s Sean Keller is tied for No. 1 in the nation in the javelin with his mark of 206 feet 5 inches. Not every state in the nation allows high school athletes to compete in the javelin. Eight of the 10 javelin marks in the nation are by athletes in Washington or Oregon.

Prairie’s Jon Lawson ranks third in the discus with his throw of 181-2.

Columbia River’s Anna Adamko ranks third in the javelin (146-10). Prairie’s Kristina Owsinksi ranks third in the pole vault (12-7),

Graves will play for Southern Oregon — Karl Graves, a senior standout wide receiver from Skyview, confirmed that he is heading to Southern Oregon University to play football for the Raiders. He had earlier had plans to be a walk-on at another school, but changed his mind after his visit to Ashland.

Graves caught 16 touchdown passes as a junior. He played through injuries his senior season, helping the Storm win another league title.

Corral is all-state — Prairie junior Heather Corral, who missed the team’s final two weeks after suffering a knee injury, still made the News Tribune’s first team in the Tacoma newspaper’s all-state list. Corral made the second-team for the Seattle Times’ all-state squad.
