PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Paralyzed Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand has been released from the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.

The university says the junior defensive tackle left the West Orange facility on Wednesday and will live with his aunt in Jackson. He had been treated there since Nov. 8.

LeGrand was hurt making a tackle on a kickoff return in a game against Army on Oct. 16. He has had sensation in his body since the injury and can shrug his shoulders, but he has been unable to move his arms or legs since being hurt.

LeGrand will continue the rehabilitation process as an outpatient twice a week at the Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Ocean Township, and once a week at the West Orange facility.

The university said that he had his tracheotomy removed last week.
