JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, Wash. (AP) — People on a freeway overpass are celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden with motorists driving past Joint Base Lewis-McChord south of Seattle.

A small group, including at least two soldiers, are waving American flags and cheering atop the Interstate 5 overpass that’s known as Freedom Bridge and leads to one of the base’s gates.

Drivers are honking their horns as they pass under the bridge that’s decorated with yellow ribbons and patriotic slogans. Some are shouting phrases like “Osama is dead” and “We finally got him.”

One of the soldiers, Staff Sgt. Lemuel Nacionales, says he was skeptical when he started hearing the news about bin Laden while watching TV. But when he saw President Barack Obama’s address, he grabbed his flag and headed to the bridge.
