Seattle still left with QB questions after draft

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — In some way, John Schneider and Pete Carroll addressed nearly every position of concern the Seattle Seahawks had entering the NFL draft.

Nearly, though, is the key word. The Seahawks avoided the position everyone expected Seattle to try to address during the draft — quarterback.

Schneider, Seattle’s second-year general manager, says that when it came time for the Seahawks to pick, the quarterbacks they were interested in at that moment weren’t there.

Carroll says the Seahawks viewed it as though quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, whom the Seahawks acquired by trading a third-round pick to San Diego last season, was like a draft pick.

But by not addressing the position Seattle enters free agency, whenever that begins, with Whitehurst the only QB under contract.
