AIGLE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Cycling Union and its current and former president have started legal action against disgraced rider Floyd Landis over his allegations of doping in the sport.

The UCI says it has “lodged a case” in Swiss courts over Landis’ “repeated, serious attacks” against its president Pat McQuaid and predecessor Hein Verbruggen.

Landis told a German channel last November that the UCI had acted corruptly and protected some star riders from doping claims.

In February, McQuaid and Verbruggen gave Landis 15 days to withdraw the claims or face legal action.

Landis was stripped of the 2006 Tour de France title for doping
